Dear Friends and Family,
For my Bar Mitzvah, I would like to help injured Israeli soldiers through the organization Belev Echad. Over the past few years, my family and I have invited them over and heard their brave stories. I felt connected to them and their stories and have gotten to know many of the soldiers personally. I felt especially connected to a soldier name Shoval who was a very young soldier, only 19 years old when he was injured. The shrapnels penetrated his entire body. The terrorists recorded their attack and were overjoyed that they had managed to injure IDF soldiers. They played the video over and over on Palestinian TV channel. A few months after I met Shoval in New York, I had the opportunity to visit the site where the attack took place. I connected deeply with Shoval and all the other soldiers that were injured and lost their lives during this attack. The stories and memories from the place left a great impact on me and inspired me to help those heros.
Belev Echad is committed to building a community of kindness around wounded veterans of the IDF and their families. The goal of their programs is to alleviate the extraordinary physical and emotional toll they face through educational, social, financial and cultural support. Belev Echad’s programs ensure our troops are cared for well after their tours of duty end.
In lieu of gifts, I am hoping to raise funds to provide support dogs and computers to as many wounded soldiers as possible. Many soldiers find comfort in dogs as it helps them with social and emotional support. Computers are essentials to soldiers who are now starting college and trying to succeed.
I am hoping you can all help me reach my goal, and help these soldiers on their road to recovery.
Thank you for donating to such an important cause to me and my family.
Love,
Jake Wasserman
