Art of Healing
Long after physical recovery is complete, the wounds to a person’s spirit are still raw and aching. Since it is equally important to heal both the body and psyche, we’ve created an opportunity for our soldiers to express themselves and heal through art.
Career Training and Job Placement
For many, it is difficult to transition back into everyday life after injury- especially for those with permanent scars and disabilities. We empower these soldiers through career counseling and guide them through the job hunting process to provide them with all the tools necessary to succeed. Through our partnerships with experts in various fields, we offer mentors to our wounded soldiers in the job force.
We also provide unique opportunities such as certification for surf instructors and dog trainers once our soldiers go through those programs. These opportunities allow for increased confidence, a sense of purpose and even a career.
Empowerment Through Education
We provide laptops and offer grants for college and university programs to ensure that wounded soldiers are able to build the foundation necessary to achieve their career and life’s goals. A college education which leads to a career of their choice, gives the soldiers a sense of purpose and a way to provide for themselves and their families.
IDF Tour Guides
Our alumni serve as tour guides of their own home state, showing American tourists the perspective of people who have bled for the Jewish Homeland. This is a deeply rewarding and fascinating experience for all.
Medical Aid and Legal Advocacy
We provide financial support that covers what insurance does not, including world-class prosthetics, experimental treatments and innovative therapies. We also provide advocates to assure that IDF veterans receive the government benefits and compensation to which they are entitled.
Unity Gatherings & Reunions
The bonds formed with those who have gone through similar experiences help propel each soldier forward. We help foster and maintain these vital connections by creating an opportunity for wounded soldiers to gather regularly as a way for them to motivate, encourage and support each other through their recovery and beyond.
Visiting the Wounded
Our staff and volunteers bring much-needed cheer and companionship to soldiers in hospitals and rehabilitation centers during this vulnerable, isolating, and painful time.
Dogs 4 Soldiers
This unique program provides therapeutic puppies to love and assist our wounded warriors. Our soldiers learn to train their puppies by professional dog trainers who then certify our soldiers to become professional dog trainers themselves! These four legged best friends help our heroes live their best lives, providing them with companionship, love and even a possible future career!
Our weekly MMA program is taught by Belev Echad alumnus and certified MMA instructor Doron Akiva. In addition to their physical injuries, many of our heroes suffer from PTSD long after their physical rehabilitation. MMA is both a physical and mental exercise, providing an opportunity to get back into shape physically, while also mentally reigniting their motivation
Waters of Healing
For many soldiers, the trauma of the battlefield can last a lifetime. This one-of-a-kind program on the beach in Herzliya was created to meet the challenges of PTSD. In this pristine setting, wounded warriors are taught by specially trained instructors various water sports such as surfing. These water sports have many therapeutic benefits. At the end of this program, the soldiers become certified instructors in these sports, giving them confidence, a sense of purpose and even a career. The center empowers each soldier to be on the giving end.
